Half-Life 2 Orange Box
For those who aren’t familiar with Half-Life 2, it rocks. The orange box contains 5 full games. “Half-Life 2″, “Half-Life2: Episode One”, the very cool physics mind-bender “Portal”, “Half-Life: Episode Two”, and the long awaited sequel “Team Fortress 2″. Having played Half-Life 2, and Episode One, I can say they were worth every minute and dollar spent. I can honestly say I think the Orange box is shaping up to be the greatest value I’ve ever seen in gaming. Though, what to do with the extra copy of Half-Life 2 and Episode One, I don’t know. I can’t say I like them in there. For those who have been putting off playing or buying Half-Life 2, now is the time. It hits the streets on October 10th.

I didn’t know what Portal was until I decided to watch the trailer. Unbelievable. It looks like a game I can spend hours on. It’s the ultimate puzzle game. You have a physics/portal gun. You must find your way out of an ever winding maze of levels using only your portal gun and your wits. Pick stuff up and use portals to move objects. Look for yourself:

Episode Two is highly anticipated. Valve has really sparked a revolution in the games industry with its episodic format. It’s not quite a feature, and much longer than a demo. Check out the trailer:

And finally, Team Fortress 2. This is like TF meets “The Incredibles”. The character classes have been turned into caricatures of archetypes. The music in the trailer lends generously to the humorous flair. I’m going to enjoy this one a lot. view the trailer:

I’ve just installed the demo of MOH:Airborne.

Wow.

How far can you take the Medal of Honor series? At what point does WWII combat action become tiresome and droll? Apparently not yet. This game provides the biggest headache I’ve had in a while from a game. The motion blur post effect is effective and at times very annoying. The affect it has it two fold, to disorient you and to give you a feeling of speed.

The multiplayer aspects of this game are interesting but not new. The idea of spawning anywhere on the map is a bit more realistic than the spawn point concept. The ammo is always running out. The weapons are historically inaccurate. The AI squad does their part. The sound is on-par. The map detail is great.

I wish there were a communication system to call your teammates.
